Designed to assess cognitive flexibility, emotional response latency, and subconscious susceptibility, the program employed animated hosts familiar to children through popular Saturday morning cartoons.

Originally broadcast between 1977 and 1986 on UK regional television, "Whispering Winnie" was billed as a gentle bedtime storytelling series for children. The premise? A young girl in a painted portrait would “come to life” and whisper fairytale bedtime stories to the viewer.
But the tales were never quite right.

Recently unearthed from a shuttered mail sorting facility in Cedar City, Utah, this 80s subscription service delivered personalized journeys of self-discovery, all from the comfort of your living room.
Every month, members of VisionQuest Video Club would receive a handcrafted VHS tape, guiding them through meditative visualization exercises that promised to unlock their deepest truths. An uncomfortable blend of new-age philosophy and late-night public access television, accompanied by a synth-heavy soundtrack that could lull you into a dream or leave you questioning your sense of self.

📼 Broadcast in the dead hours of local cable during the early 1980s, Lotho’s Library of Classic Horrors aired several times a week on WGTH-13: The Velvet Signal, a goth-leaning public access channel based out of a low-watt station in upstate New York.
The host, Lotho the Librarian, never appeared fully in frame. Just a sliver of a face and the soft, raspy whisper of forgotten nightmares. Each week, he read a different story pulled from the shadowed shelves of horror literature. Lovecraft, Bowen, Poe - all rendered in a hush meant only for insomniacs and creatures of the night.
